You will be aware of the concerns of business and the public about the outbreak of COVID-19 caused by the Wuhan novel coronavirus that is affecting the United Kingdom. Regent’s Events is responding to the outbreak and related disruption through the overall response and management plans of Regent’s University London. At RCEL, we take the Health and Safety of our clients, staff and partners very seriously. We are following the regular advice from the UK Government and Public Health England (PHE) and will update our practices and act accordingly as advice changes. RCEL and Regent’s University London are continuing to monitor and assess the situation daily.
Regent’s remains fully open and all events are taking place as normal.
Precautions: public areas
The University has an already established robust cleaning schedule. However an enhanced schedule is being put in place to regularly disinfect high volume touch points such as door handles, push plates, stair rails, lift call buttons and chair arms.
Sanitising stations are available in Reception and key points across the campus and sanitisers will be available in the conference and events rooms. Posters are displayed around the campus including in all lavatories, public and back of house areas. These posters emphasise the importance of individuals washing their hands
regularly.
Precautions: potential symptoms response
Should anyone, whilst attending Regent’s University London in the capacity of staff, student or delegate, start to exhibit signs of COVID-19, they will be given a protective face mask and surgical gloves to wear and directed to a designated isolation room within the venue.
With the person in isolation, immediate advice would then be sought from NHS111. A record of the patient plus any staff or delegates having close contact with the patient will be kept.
Precautions: Vacherin (catering provider at Regent’s University London)
We are working closely with all our contractors to ensure they also have robust measures for managing COVID-19. Our catering partner, Vacherin is closely monitoring the guidance provided by PHE and will update the advice to staff as this changes. Vacherin staff, as always, are adhering to strict hygiene policies. As a precaution, Vacherin has introduced a 14 day quarantine period should any of their staff have travelled to the following areas specified by the Foreign & Commonwealth Office:
• Iran
• Specific lockdown areas in northern Italy as designated by the Government of Italy (Lombardy, Vaneto, Friuli Venezia Giula, Piemonte and Emilia Romagna).
• Special care zones in South Korea as designated by the Government of the Republic of South Korea (Daegn and Cheongdo).
• Hubei province
The requirement also applies to any contractor employed.
The University reviews and updates a dedicated web page daily. However if you have any additional questions or concerns, please do get in touch with us.
